Sweet. I just guess-timated mine, but after seeing the equation, it seems I was exactly right!

OMG!!! All this time I thought that rating was based on "php" knowledge so I have set my raring to a 4. I have been under-rating myself for well over a year now. I believe I deserve a 7 which would fall under the "Experienced" category. Thanks to Sniper_E, helping me style my board my styling skills have definitely improved!

i setted mine number pretty low, however the fact is that i am pretty familair with phpbb and the style section.
mine php knowledge is close to 1 mine xhtml css is pretty high around 8-9, i think the function is nice but seperated in a few bars would be more usefull like

php knowledge **********
modding knowledge **********
xhtml knowledge **********
css knowledge **********
dbase knowledge **********

that would give a better overview of the person knowledge
Do you need MODS installed or your phpBB upgraded, for a small fee i can help you, also custom styles. Drop me a PM or contact me over 1 of the messenger options.

I have to agree that there should be a database portion.

I think you don't understand the explanation i did before. The number isn't an exact science and it isn't supposed to be. It is just an indicator of how "experienced" you are with using phpb and making edits to files or writing code yourself. If someone with number 8 asks how to change the header logo, he or she will get the same answer as someone with a level of 1. It is not the inside knowledge of mysql that counts, it is the overall....well let's say, experience you have with phpbb... No point in making it bigger than it is.

what i think and i guess more people do think that which are visitors here the number as it is now is kinda missleading
if i would respond to a thread containing html css and a person with high php knowledge finding hisself enough for a 8 it would break mine number cause i basic took a average
an average number isnt telling so much, howeer the asker will look and say ah he has an 8 on knowledge and will go for it instead of the 4 of me.
at the end the solution i offer could be way more logical cause mine html css knowledge is more experienced then the 8 of the php coder

thats what i am pointing to
*edit*

also people dont tend to go on a search page to go read the explanation of the number, they just assume its given orso and they will rely on it

short summed its kinda missleading this way

Sure PurpleOlrac, the more areas you could count from would give you a more precise average of your php knowledge.

php knowledge ##########
modding knowledge ##########
xhtml knowledge ##########
css knowledge ##########
dbase knowledge ##########
sql command knowledge ##########

Actually a breakdown of each one, posted under your php knowledge title would be even more helpful for supporters.
You could see where a person would need a more detailed explanation of their problem.

I think Frans is saying the phpbb Knowledge Test isn't about being that detailed. I'm down with that.
