Massive upgrades

Postby obscured by clouds » 08 Apr 2009, 17:25

I am in development of a new site, which I have a great guy for. However the forum is an important aspect (an established community), he is busy with the main site, I need someone to take care of the forum. The person I hope will remain on board as there is going to be a lot of work, I do not want to find someone each time something needs to get done. I am looking for a long term partner. Someone who can keep the forum running smooth and updated. I need someone who is more then qualified, timeliness is an issue with me, as well as hearing "it cant be done" ;)

There is a list of mods, all most to much to list! But for right now we'll do a few mods there and there, once I am comfortable with the person I am working with, you'll get the green light. The forum I want will be totally customized.

Ok here are some of the mod, but many of these will need to be tweaked,

It may be helpful for whoever decides to take up this job to post up a url of the site that you are in development of making, what it is about and to provide the names of the mod's next to each of their url's on the phpbb.com site!

Also the first mod you listed is a portal for phpBB3. You have stated that you have someone already working on the main website. What do you plan on needing a portal for that can't/won't be provided by the main website parts and won't be provided by the forum itself that will warrant the need for this mod. It seems like an unnessecarry mod that you won't end up needing.

Also why do you have this mod as well
[Dev]Mk Portal / phpBB3 Arcade 0.0.6

This is a content management system (cms) with the arcade mod that is available on this website and is in beta status.

I think you need some help with sorting through your list of mods and getting some help on finding out what the best way is to progress further with your forum before you go and pay someone to do all the work on your site and you have duplicates of similar unneeded things. ie. cms' within cms'.

Also note that install the large list of MODs you have on your site will make it extremely hard to update your board since so many files will get edited.

Well yeah that would be helpful! The new site is not up, we are only in the second week of development. But the forum is here, which is going to be a part of the new site. There is a lot going on, to much to just post without making this an epic thread. I'll edit my OP.

Well the portal, was to be a front page just for the forum, the main site, will probably only have a link and such. The main page of course could, but there is going to be different content. The forum is a little part of everything, but I love forums! So I am paying special attention to this as we are building the main site.

Ahh yes...that link was an over site on my part.

Yes I do! That is what I was hoping to talk with the person that takes this on. I did not make it very clear, just trying to give a quick over view.

That is why they better be good at php! :good: I know a heavy modded board is more intensive. I am fine with that.
