Well, the nomination period for the President Bertie race is now over. Participation was not as high as I expected, and the two candidates who ended up filing did not do so until this morning.
However, for the sake of the contest, I'm going to lift the provision that requires people to "sign" the petitions. And so, the candidates for the 2008 Bertie Mons Presidential Election are Lyndon Bertie Johnson (sponsored by Semi_Deus) and Sir Bertie Jr. (sponsored by T50Webmaster).
Now the fun part begins; the campaign process, as over the next two and a half weeks, these two qualified candidates will duke it out to see who comes out on top.
On tomorrow's episode of phpBB Weekly (#081), I will explain what will be happening over the next two and a half weeks, including some general rules and some exciting happenings that all of you should be keeping an eye out for. Such information will be posted here in the President Bertie Contest forum later this weekend, signaling the opening of campaign season. The two candidates will be receiving a private message with more information for them. Stay tuned!
This topic is being moved into the President Bertie Contest forum, and the purpose of this topic will be for nonpartisan discussion on this contest. Each candidate will have their own campaign thread starting up later this week where you can be as partisan as you like.P.S. For the record: I'm not a crazy person trying to lock every topic in sight. The topics are being locked as we prepare to transform this forum from a nominations forum into a campaign forum, and as this transformation completes over this weekend, the topics will become unlocked.
