I still see many of my friends playing Farmville, I still don’t understand the fascination with it after so much time. I keep asking them, and they say... it’s so cute! CUTE?! You have a cat and a horse! What do you need little (slightly) animated farm animals for?! I would think it gets old really quick.

I'll be brutally honest: simple minds, simple pleasures.

It's popular because it isn't hard to pick up and play.
Unfortunately, it makes any real gamer snub it, since we like having some depth in what we play.

Why not turn it around? First decide: How you want to do work, What you want to be able to do etc.. And then decide what kind of genre it is. Aren't you limiting yourself when deciding the genre first?
