I agree
desktops.jpg

Ubuntu Workstation dual 22" widescreen top
17" Vista notebook with an attached 19" widescreen
17" XP Notebook running Ubuntu bottom

Workstation is running synergy server so the keyboard and mouse operates across all systems at once.
The 2 Ubuntu file systems are functional from each obviously through SSH.

All running the same wallpaper for about a year now.
So I guess my wallpaper stays pretty standard :)

topdown, take a look into tmux for when you start playing with CLI more heavily. Nice to be able to split the terminal screen and detach/reattach with it, and unlike screen it remembers the screen splits.

My right screen there, in the terminal I've got weechat-curses running in the upper left pane, htop running lower left, and a bash terminal open on the right - all this on my server, too. P:

I have been using Terminator for quite a while.
It does split screens, but doesn't use a session server.

I'd do that myself, except that opensuse crashes every time I try running it. Every time, every way.
