Since I have pretty much all the data I need I could try making the forums converter work from the phpBB2 -> phpBB3 upgrade script included in phpBB3 RC1. It should only take a few minutes to update the script with my script.

I would just need a backup of your database so that I could test it.

The version i use is Category Hierarchy 2.1.6d

Oh, and I would need a sample config.php (I dont know what else was added/changed from phpbb2s).

Copy the text from config.php (of course remove the sensative data like username, password, db host, and anything else that is private) and paste it here so I can take a quick look.

If you want me to try and make a new upgrade script for you quick I need those 2 things.

Yes, make sure you edit out the username/pass from config.php though.

I'd release it as a converter at phpbb.com.

All that needs to be done really is that you take the current phpBB2->phpBB3 upgrade script in RC1 and then change the forums upgrade part of it to upgrade the subforums correctly.

Should be really simple.

I'll chip in with how I made the conversion work using CH 2.1.6. I actually went back to 2.1.4 (some database edits regarding categories) and then used a clean 2.0.22 phpbb install and the RC2 converter and it all went smoothly. Well there were some duplicated boards since the converter converted the categories into both own cat. and boards but nothing you couldn't fix using the ACP in RC2.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention that I did run the 2.1.4 install script to get groups and users auth back to the 'lesser' degree.


Yet, I had an earlier version of 2.1.6 (I believe it was 'b') so not sure if the above method would work with 2.1.6d.

Hi,

sorry for digging this topic out but I wanted to ask if there is something new on a converter from CH Mod 2.1.6d to phpBB3 (I've got RC5 at the moment). I would be very interested and would even offer myself as a beta tester for a converter. I just don't want to wait any further on CH Mod releasing a converter and I havn't got that much time to convert my board by hand
