i have the install folder that you showed in that picture there but when i use smartFTP to access my forums database and put that install folder into my forum database..

this error comes up

Your not supposed to be using an FTP client to navigate to your install folder, you browse to it with your internet browser.

now im totally lost..
i always though i had to open up forum database with SmartFTP and drag that "install folder" into my the "www"section of my forum database...

please tell me how do this correctly..

Ok mis-understood. You said database. What you mean is accessing the phpbb folders not the database. You use phpmyadmin for that.

Sorry but I have to go and get some shut-eye. If you are still having problems with this and if you feel ok with it PM me your FTP info and give me admin rights to your board and I will get it all set up for you.

Ok I see one problem you have going. You have placed all your language files for the chat in lanugauge/en/mods but your board is looking for them to be in language/en_us/mods.

I went ahead and uploaded those files to that directory but that is as far as I can go since you did not give me admin access to run the install. Try running the install again and let us know what happens.

I have been reading through this topic and it seems that others have experienced this same problem but has never had a solution for it. I am thinking that it may have something to do with the php version you are running. On the first post of this topic it says php version 5.1.1 is required for the chat to work. You are running 5.2.8. Also I see this mod has not been updated since phpBB3 version 3.0.1 and that is only DEV. Unless the mod author comes back or someone with more php knoweledge can shed some light I don't think there is anything more I can do.

how do i recover my forum to how it was before the mod?
do i have to do everything manually and remove every file??

Well hopefully you made back-ups of your files that you edited. just overwrite the edited files with your back-ups. If you didn't save a back-up it's not too bad since this mod doesn't require many edits so then you would have to undo those edits manually then remove all the files that came with the mod.

Have you tried Handyman's chat mod?
