3.0.5 to 3.0.6 Problems

Postby TimN » 19 Dec 2009, 13:55

Getting this error in the file check process, first time through:
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.
I have yet to successfully update any board from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6. All the other updates went without a hitch. Feeling a bit grumpy today.

Anyone ever get that error while running the update script?
I'd like to be able to update the board. As it is, it's half updated now with the database changes.
If nothing else, I may download the entire thing to MAMP, update it on my MAC, then reupload it. Although, that would be a major pain in the arse.

I don't believe we got any errors while updating StarTrekGuide. If I were you, I would download it to MAMP and work with it from there… upgrades are easier when it's localhost.

Hi Tim,

Not much to go on here. Have you tried it on your localhost as Francis suggested? If not, you might want to post more details on what specs you have and detail the steps you took. We might then be able to find the problem.
Watch out! I might do a code wheelie!

I'm running 3.0.5 with the ProGravity (modified Style) although style should have little to do with it.
Board is pretty heavily modified with:
Handyman's Chat
Blogs
Last Post
Calendar
Mods done to functions.php to load random images in header and define different links in the menu system

When I run update, it modifies the database, then says checking files. Then the script stops with the afore mentioned server error.

PHP Version is 5.2.1
I know absolutely nothing about servers. I've searched the PowWeb control panels and cann't locate any server logs. I was hoping someone would have come across something similar and found an easy fix. I've updated the forum from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 to 3.0.5 in the past without a hitch on this particular board. I can't understand why the server would have problems with this all of the sudden.
I'll begin the download process. Hopefully the update will run locally and I won't screw everything up changing the database config information.

Worked locally.
Now to go through and manually update the pro_gravity style for this board.
I suppose I'll just do it locally from now on. :hello:
