Handyman, I have been on shared hosting for years and it finally came to a standstill after I put up my forums with a WHOLE 45 USERS!!! so far.
I did some checking where I am hosted (GoDaddy, YECH) B U T....They transferred my site and databases over to a GRID. The way it works is as follows....

It is really nice.
I am on dial-up as I live in the tullies...WAY OUT...but even on a dial-up, I have noticed a difference. I was always down a minute here, 5 minutes there and throughout the day, it came to over an hour and some time 3 hours.
I have been on the GRID for only about 36 hours and have not had one second of downtime. Not a one.
