I have no clue what cPanel he is using. It is no cPanel i have ever seen, but it acts like it. The file manager is very primative. I couldn't install a folder, only files. So I had to create the directories and then populate them (until I got my CyberDuck FTP working - works on my forum).
My first step was to get both the AutoMod and UMIL packages from .com. Then the first time I went through it, I uploaded each file into the file manager through cPanel. When the script wouldn't work I went and deleted all the directories, got my FTP to work, then tried again with the same result (except that the install file wouldn't actually upload - again, had to create the file and then populate it after).
As I told Na, I've never failed an automod install... this one got me lol
BTW, my FTP access only last 24 hours unless he goes ahead and locks it. I didn't save any passwords here either lol.
That's my side of the story. Not sure if it helps any. But Na, try what he says. Besides - learning to install the automod is the first step to learning to install other things! ((I myself don't use it anymore - I do everything manually))
Edit: Oh btw I was on the outside of the wireless connection at work - my FTP problem could have easily been the connection hiccuping. I just realized that
