I've followed this project for a while (pretty much since the beginning), mostly on the ev-nova.net forums, and have just discovered this forum. I know how much asking people for dates annoys them, so I'm just wondering if you can give me an idea of how far along the project is.

JCC will have to post how far he is on the storylines, but those are a never ending project since there can always be new stories. But he's at least 90%-95% done with the descriptions for all of the ships, and planets.
And I believe he is at least 80% done with all of the weapons and outfits descriptions.
He has also completed many mini story threads.

Graphics are another story... I've created about 40 planet graphics, 5 wormholes, 8 explosions, 12 weapons graphics such as torpedos and plasma cannon shots, etc...
Ships are a bit strange, there are about 21 or so done, but there are some glitches in them so many will have to be re-rendered.
I have the textured meshes for over 45 ships, but have not rendered them.
I have meshes for over 400 ships, but have not textured them.
I have meshes for over 2,400 ships and their variations, but don't have the correct tools to render them on a Mac.

The Galaxy Map is 100% complete.
The Teaser Map is 100% complete.

The Teaser is estimated 50%-60% complete (ready for release)
The TC is too far off to give an accurate estimate.

I have over 2,000 Star Trek pictures -- from Sci-fi Cities, Star Trek Ships (all races), and space stations, I have hundreds of landing pictures, but we have not compiled any of them yet.

I have over 300 star trek sounds, from computer beeps to computer voices, to sound effects such as phasers, transporters, ship fly bys, replicators, terminal panel alerts, ship warning klaxon, warp out, warp in, explosion sounds, planet atmosphere sounds, and space station sounds to name a few.

Hopefully that gives a good overview... all this information is from memory, and not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Smile
Watch out! I might do a code wheelie!

All the more reason not to give up on this.

I am still available for rendering.

Okay guys... I think I'm ready for some help on this... at least it'll keep you busy until January where I can put some work into this thing.

Many of you will remember FM (FunkMaster) from EV-Nova.net, who was the original head developer of STN:TFF before his disappearance a year and a half ago. Nobody has seen or heard from him since, we've even attempted calling him, which proved to be a slight challenge for most of us, since he lives/lived in the UK, and we all live in a yello... ehm... the U.S.
Some of you may remember his website for STN:TFF (Archive: http://badmonkeynobanana.com)
Which contains some of the pictures of ships he had rendered for STN:TFF.
Now let me pause here for a minute to say, that very recently, his website has suddenly changed: http://badmonkeynobanana.com
This is a very recent development, so I did a little background checking, and it is still registered to FM, so I'm going to try emailing him again, and KA, if I could get you to try calling him as well. (keep in mind, London time)

Now moving on, our biggest hurdle right now is not having the right tools to render all of the ships that we would need for the TC
We already have all of the ships we need for the Teaser, so that's not going to be a problem.
So here is what I need...
Anyone with a little time on their hands, or who is willing to spend a few moments to see if it would be possible to render these ships.
Why these ships, you ask?
Because, the match, nearly perfectly the exact Models that FM used on his screenshots, and well, I figure if he did it, maybe we can do it too.
Before I go into the links, I have Strata 3D CX, Bryce 5, and Blender 3D... most of the models I have (over 400) can be imported by Strata 3D, the only problem is, they are completely texture-less... and texturing takes time.
These Models can't be imported with any tools for Mac... for pre-Intel based Macs, I should say, so it's completely up to you Win people to see if you can do anything with these.

Here are the links:
These are all Starfleeet Command III ships.
http://sfc.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/ships.shtml
http://www.staryards.com/
http://www.battleclinic.com/docks/dock.php
http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/ ... /Ships;848

Here are some Armada II ships, many look very nice, but I do not remember where the editors/importers are for these.
http://armada2.filefront.com/files/Armada_2/Ships;764

Same for the Bridge Commander Models:
http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/fi ... /Ships;639

And finally, here are the Modding tools you will need to open those models:
http://sfc.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/modelling.shtml

If you don't have Studio Max 3D, your best bet might be the Taldren Model Viewer.
But I'm not sure...
Also remember, even if things look a little poorly textured up close, when we render it true to scale, it might turn out fantastic.
So if you can open them up and take a look... post some screenshots of them so I can have a look and see if they will work out for us (depends on quality).

As I mentioned before, it appears that I found a fairly good sized archive of Blender 3D star trek ships fully textured... this will cover most of our basic ship needs that I don't already have done.
But I'm specifically looking for ships like the Reman, Gorn, Borg Queen ship, etc... unique ships that I don't have already... I don't even have models of, and the SFCIII models are the only ones I have found so far.

If you have, or know someone who has Max 3D, you would in a very short period of time be able to open all 400+ of my Max models and render them in a snap... (native Max formats) all in extremely high quality, but I have not found anyone with Max3D yet... so these models are still sitting here.

And finally... good luck!! Good
Watch out! I might do a code wheelie!

I'm posting a second post here since it's regarding a different subject.

When I moved the AdventOneGraphics website over to our server, the hosting on the old server expired before I could recover the latest updates... I had thought I had them, but found out too late that I did not.
The only thing I lost?
The STN:TFF Newsletter memberlist.
However, all is not lost... every time a person subscribed to the newsletter, the system sent me a notification email with their email address and name... however, it means that the email addresses are buried in my hard drive in my mail program... not a big deal, but it just means more time to go in and retrieve them, then insert them into the new database.

So just giving everyone a heads up... I don't think you'll need to re-subscribe, I'm pretty sure I have everyone, but just letting you know that I don't have the required database to send out a newsletter real soon.

In the mean time, just keep an eye on this topic.

I am unable to work directly with these models. I need them ready for rendering. I am not very skilled with any 3D program. Sorry. Blush

If you can get them into a viewable format, that would be a step in the right direction... there are Model converters for Windows, that I can't run on my Mac, and apparently Virtual PC won't support them either... but I can't even view the model itself... are you able to, using some of those tools?
If so, I might be able to guide you through the steps necessary to either convert them to a format I can read/see, or show you how to render them yourself...
If there is a Model VIEWER in one of those packages, where you can actually position a camera, then it's actually all we need, I just need to basically know what you are seeing.

I access the internet from school, and only battleclinic.com is not blocked by the school's firewall. Which models from that site do you need? I know from past experience that I can get an unskinned polygon from the .ms3d format that seems to be used there.
