IPB stores an absolute path in its smilies packs : eg.

. So, unless this info is just ignored when uploading a pack (but in that case why bother to store it in the first place ?), it means among other things :

-> (X != Y) => IPB packs generated by X's IPB forum cannot be used on Y's IPB forum ( ).

As for SMF, it happens that it doesn't have smilies packs, but smilies sets : the smilies codes are the same for all sets, cannot be altered and none can be added, but each user can choose among the installed sets the one he wants to use. This is a really different mindset than phpBB's, so nothing can be converted...

Conclusion => I'll just clean the code when I get time and make the thing open-source, and if someone cares about adding IPB support... I wish them good luck. Though a php script would probably be more suitable, since it has immediate access to this $£*µù%^ absolute path.

PS : I added DLLs in the download, needed for Win98...

Hum... on most computers, the program works fine, but on some a messagebox saying something along the lines of "The configuration of this program is incorrect, reinstalling application can solve the problem" pops up and kills the process. (I have had the message in French, so I couldn't say word for word what it becomes on an "english-speaking" computer...)

I have no idea what causes that. My other programs work fine on all computers...

So, two questions :

-> who has had that problem too, and who has not ? On which flavour of Windows ? (it has been downloaded 60 times, so some people here should have tested it....)

-> does anybody know (or even suspect) how to solve that preposterous problem and make this idiotic error message disappear ? (There are cookies to be won ;-))

I have recompiled the thing with static links, so as to avoid dependencies. The executable should now run right away on any system, quite independently from any dll.

I had not forgotten my promise to release an open-source version of the tool before phpBB3 goes gold (Although I'm sure everyone else had )

So I have completely rewritten the converter. See -> http://gamall-ida.com/f/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=321

-> It now has a GUI. Because everybody loves to push buttons

-> It is now written in Java (so it will run on Windows, Linux, Mac etc...)

-> and released under the GPL (so you can alter and expand it if you wish).

-> And it supports GIF, PNG and JPEG (conversion v2 to v3)

Should I create another topic for the new version or alter this one ? (It is a completely different program, but it does exactly the same thing, so I'm not sure which way is policy here in that case )
