Upgrading beta5 to RC1

hey I think this might be a bit longer, so I started a new topic

I replaced all old files by the RC1 files, the db is still the b5 db.
However if I go to "convert" in the installation manual it says

No installation found

The phpBB Unified Convertor Framework requires a default installation of phpBB3 to function, please proceed by first installing phpBB3.

what did I do wrong this time.
I thought the phpbb group only provides a db update, but not a full upgrade script and all users have to replace the old files, or did I get this wrong.

The converter needs a valid OLD (phpbb2.x) version and files to create a table_copy of it.....

You shouldn't have copied the RC1 files OVER the old files, you better could have made a second forum install dir, copied all the new files there and then used the converter....

ok well I still had the b5 files stored on my pc

ok I installed a new RC1 board
do I have to point my browser to /phpBB3/install/database_update.php
or waht do I have to do. I'd better ask befor I mess it up again

You have to run the installer (RC1) again, and will see a new option on top that says: Convert... and then follow the instructions...

however I'm not sure if this is the right convertor (version 0.92 )

anyway, I came zo this formular, and I got some questions

db name: name of the b5 db or of the RC1 db?
now the board path is what caused problems....
the phpbb3 RC1 installation is in
http://localhost/phpBB3
the beta 5 installation is in
http://localhost/phpBB3b5/

what is wrong with that path

path should be: ./phpBB3b5/ (one dot)

actually, because the upgrade is located in the install directory, it would probably be ./../../phpBB5

I tried
the install folder is the sub-sub directory, but somehow, this patzh is not being accepted
do I have to assaing any specila permissions to any folder?
