[BETA] Advertisement MOD 1.0.B1

MOD Title: Advertisement MOD
MOD Description: Adds any banner ad (or Google Adsense Ad) after the first post of any topic and in the footer.
MOD Version: 1.0.B1
phpBB Version: 3.0.RC1

Author Highway of Life

Features:
  • Support for Google Adsense Ads (by default) -- or add your own Banner ads
  • Adds ad banners after first post in viewtopic and the overall footer
  • Style of ads matches subSilver2 and prosilver default theme -- and can easily be modified to fit any prosilver or subSilver2 based themes.

Notes:
This MOD ads support for the future features that will be added in the coming versions of the Advertisement MOD.

Demo:
See viewtopic on StarTrekGuide and footer in prosilver or Sniper_Blue styles.
Note: If you are an STG supporter, you must log out before you are able to view the Ads.

Planned Features
  • Support for "Supporters" or "VIP" usergroups permissions to hide ads from them.
  • Ad Management, control ad rotation, manage ad banners, manage multiple ad types.
  • Ad Reports: View click through rates, page impressions, page impression vs click through reports.
  • Ability to activate and deactivate ads.
  • Fequency Weight for Banner. This would be how often this banner are to be shown, relative to other active banners at the current time.
  • Ability to limit banners to select forums and locations.
  • Time Limiting
    • Time of day for it to be displayed.
    • A start time for it to start being displayed.
    • An end time for when the ad should no longer be displayed.
    • Ability for Administrator to adjust time management for each ad banner and each location separately.
  • Banner hidden after click for a set time limit (per banner or location).
  • ACP Configurable ad locations (e.g.: header, footer, viewtopic, viewforum, index, memberlist, etc)

Couple Feature Requests....
  • Ability to activate and deactivate ads.
  • Fequency Weight for Banner. This would be how offen this banner are to be shown, relative to other active banners at the current time. Maybe use setting of 1-99.
  • Ability to limit the banners to only showing up in select forums
  • Time Limit - A few options here:
    • Time of day for it to be displayed
    • A start time for it to start being displayed
    • An end time for when the ad should no longer be displayed
  • Banner hidden after click - If a user clicks on a banner then it's doesn't display for a setable time limit.
  • And it'd be cool if you could have additional placements of ads. So standard mod comes with the location of just after first post. But with a flip of a variable you can unlock additional locations that can be used as a user wishes. For example I know I'd like to use this on my site but I'd also like to put an ad space in my header near my logo. So this could be a custom location.
Hope that's not too much to ask for.

I?ve added all of them to the planned features... except the last one.
I?m not sure about the very last bullet point, I can control where the ad is displayed in between posts, but without manually inserting the code into other locations, such as the header, footer, viewforum etc... it won?t show up there.
I can add variables for those to be possible locations, which is what I think you are after, but it would still be up to the Admin if they want to install in those locations.
For example, currently you don?t have to put it in either the footer or the header.
Watch out! I might do a code wheelie!

Well I'm not exactly sure what you have planned fr the html code for the templates... But you could use a just a simple variable say {ADVERT_01} and that's all you put within the viewtopic template. Then you can have {ADVERT_xx} for ____ location.

Another thing I was just thinking of... allowing different types of ads, for example... flash, jpg, gif, text, and html.

Yes, the location choice can/will be controlled by a variable as you mentioned, I?ve added that to the list.

By default, it will support any kind of Ad:
Flash, jpg, gif, png, plain text, javascript, html, or PHP generated ad in any of the formats listed.

Champsabin: It?s a permission level that is not supported in the download (though in use on STG -- supporters cannot see the ads).
That feature will be available in the next release of the MOD.

hey everyone

I have a problem i cant seem to get this mod to work i done acsactly wat the install.Xml said but the ads are not showing up :(

can you please help me i ran out off ideas to try. :(

Did you input your google adsense publication code into the template files as instructed in the install.xml?

Thank you for your reply highway off life :D

I didt but i found out something strange when i couldnt get another mod to display i desided to install subsilver2 and set it as default style.
and the advertisement mod suddenly displayd but when i reset the delault style to prosilver it was gone again i dont get what i didt or didnt do tht could have caust this strange problem.
as far as i know i followd every step closely.
