do you have debug and debug_extra turned on?
If not, turn those on and see if you get an error.

If you turn on your IM, I'll work through it with you so I can update it… since I submitted it to the MODDB.

This is AWESOME Handyman!!

Can you add the ability for the Administrator to enter the username or user_id of someone on phpBB.com, and it would automatically grab information on all of that users MODs?
You could scrape the page, or I can setup an XML on the phpBB.com MOD DB that you can pull from, I would just need to discuss it with the team. I think it would be very beneficial to everyone, keeping MODs updated, and especially if there is a security issue with any of the MODs, it would be good for us to be able to have that in there so that users could easily update without manually checking all of their MODs.
After grabbing the MOD information from each user, you can cache it for a certain amount of time so that it won't repeatedly query phpBB.com for updates whenever the page is loaded. Caching it for 1 week oughta do the trick.

I hope that as many MOD authors as possible will use this feature. Just a short question: As far as I understand this MOD connects to the servers of the MOD authors to see if a new version of his/her MOD is available. Are there any security risks? And what happens when some of these servers are down? (BTW: phpBB.com which checks for new versions of phpBB in ACP has already solved this problem.)

When the servers are down, it says "no information available".
As far as the security risk goes, I'll have to see if there is any issues with file_get_contents… but I don't believe there is a security risk, since the function open the file and gets the contents… then has a funk if it's not XML.
It doesn't actually parse anything, so javascript would show up as just code… not something able to run.
