Quentin Tarantino gives update on his Star Trek movie

Quentin Tarantino is a busy man, what with his Hateful Eight Netflix miniseries and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. What we're interested in, however, is that rumoured Star Trek movie.

Months after fans first got their heads around the possibility of a Tarantino Star Trek, the award-winning filmmaker has addressed the project's process. And, uh, it's vague.

While chatting to /Film, Quentin could neither confirm nor deny whether he was definitely making a Star Trek film, but he did reveal that it's "a very big possibility".

Comparing himself to a groundhog in the process, Tarantino explained: "I haven't been dealing with those guys for a while 'cos I've been making my movie. But we've talked about a story and a script.

"The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, we'll pick up talking about it again."

So, there we have it. There is a Tarantino Trek script floating around somewhere, but whether it'll ever be beamed into cinemas is uncertain.

Quentin's R-rated take on the Star Trek universe isn't shrouded in total secrecy, of course, as Karl Urban – aka Enterprise doctor Leonard 'Bones' McCoy – has revealed.

"I know a little bit about what that is, and it's bananas," Karl said last year, while Simon Pegg (Montgomery Scott) also reassured fans that the next film won't be "like Pulp Fiction in space" – no matter how fun that sounds.

"It won't be ordinary, it'll have him all over it," Simon added. "But it won't be anything a Star Trek fan will have to worry about."
