The Second ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer is Way Better Than the First

Paramount Pictures has revealed the second official Star Trek Beyondtrailer, adding impressive action and character beats.

Chris Pine recently teased that the U.S.S. Enterprise gets destroyed, and John Cho said that before this catastrophic event, the crew is two years into their five-year mission and starting to feel a little homesick. “We’re all getting into our ruts and I think we’ve been around each other too long,” says the actor. He also revealed that Sulu has a daughter, and that there’s another revelation regarding the baby that he can’t talk right now.

Co-starring Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin, the third film in the rebooted universe is in theaters July 22, 2016. But the film will premiere at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20th. Newcomers to the series include Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba as a villainous alien who lays waste to the U.S.S. Enterprise’s plans.

I’ve noticed a huge improvement in this new trailer. It is so much better than that last one they released. But just because they managed to cut together a good trailer doesn’t mean the whole picture is like that. I’m hoping the next one shows it to be more Star Trek and less generic sci-fi action flick. The new poster, however, looks like a great nod to the old Star Treck movie artwork.
