More Details On “Star Trek: Picard” Mindset

CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Picard” gets its own Comic-Con panel on Saturday. Ahead of that presentation, executive producer Alex Kurtzman and showrunner Michael Chabon offered some new details about the series to EW, discussing Patrick Stewart’s return to his most famous screen role.

As we know, Stewart’s Picard is now retired and living out his years at his family’s French vineyard. But a final and disastrous mission on Romulus still heavily weighs on him. Ultimately he heads back out into space, but not under the banner of Starfleet and for very different reasons than he used to do so. Kurtzman says:

The series will be fully serialised as opposed to episodic which Chabon confirmed to the outlet, Chabon also teasing that Picard has more than his fair share of ghosts from his past still haunting him:

Stewart’s old co-star Jonathan Frakes will be directing two episodes in the first season, but it’s still not clear if any of the old Enterprise-D crew will show up on screen. Kurtzman did confirm that the current cast will not be playing any familiar characters from the franchise.

Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, and Harry Treadaway co-star in the series which is expected to debut in the Fall.
