Data, The Borg And Seven Of Nine Confirmed To Return In Star Trek: Picard

It seems CBS All Access is in the process of getting the gang back together for Star Trek: Picard.

During the network’s SDCC panel earlier today, the Powers That Be rolled out Picard‘s first full trailer, confirming the return of Data, The Borg, Seven of Nine and more. That’s right, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan will all be bound for the stars when Picard premieres on CBS All Access early next year.

Truth be told, it’s long been rumored that members of the Next Generation crew would buddy up with Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard) for the upcoming spinoff series, but this announcement will surely send Trekkies into a tailspin. Let’s not forget that Picard picks up years – decades – after the events of The Next Generation, so it’ll be interesting to see how those friendships have developed (or fizzled?) since Stewart’s series stalwart wandered the halls of Starfleet.

On a more general note, executive producer Alex Kurtzman recently spoke to ComicBook.com about the ways in which Picard differs from past Star Trek series – put simply, it appears to be cut from a different cloth entirely, while still retaining Patrick Stewart’s Starfleet legend as its core driving force.

Star Trek: Picard is said to be targeting a release via CBS All Access in the early stages of 2020. Still no word of an exact premiere date, but we’ll notify you if and when that changes. For now, stay tuned for more Picard news and announcements coming out of SDCC.
