Life after The Big Bang Theory: Wil Wheaton is back in the Star Trek family for Picard spin-off

Wil Wheaton is back in the Star Trek family where he belongs! With The Big Bang Theory a distant memory, the Wesley Crusher star will be hosting The Ready Room immediately after each episode of Amazon Prime Video’s Picard, which is almost as exciting as Picard’s return itself.

The Ready Room launched in 2019 to delve deeper into the drama of Star Trek: Discovery, hosted by Naomi Kyle, featuring special guests giving their take on what was quite the ride.

With Wil’s past experience onboard The Enterprise, who else is better qualified to pick Picard apart?

The 47-year-old previously told Metro.co.uk, he would jump at the chance to be part of the Star Trek family again after Amazon announced Picard was incoming.

‘It’s been over 30 years since we did Next Generation and in a way I feel like we had our time when we did our thing and it’s time to make room for new people, new characters and new stories.

‘All of that being said, I would love the opportunity to work with them again. It would be like going home,’ he enthused.

‘I think that it could be a lot of fun to revisit that character, but I just don’t see that happening.’

He added: ‘I want to be really clear, I’m not putting it down because I don’t think it’s great and I’m not throwing cold water at the idea because it’s something I wouldn’t want to do.’

Now here we are – congrats Wil!

Wil’s not the only familiar face who will be popping up in Picard. A recent trailer confirmed William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Beverley Crusher (Gates McFadden) will be returning too.

Star Trek: Picard launches on Amazon Prime Video on January 23.
