Star Trek: Picard's Patrick Stewart reveals how major Next Generation characters will return

We never thought it would happen, but Sir Patrick Stewart is back as Jean-Luc Picard for another outing, and he's not the only classic Trek character making a comeback.

We know from trailers and interviews and whatnot that people like Data, Hugh the Borg and Seven of Nine are returning, but the question is: how?

"I have to say that we don't see everyone in Picard," the actor made sure to note when speaking to Digital Spy and other media.

"That doesn't mean we are not going to see everyone in time, because we are all excited at the prospect of having some of The Next Generation cast showing up in this new world that we're in now. It's great to think about, 'What has happened to them?'"

Okay, but what about the people who are appearing in Picard? How do they fit into this? Thankfully, the iconic actor was happy to explain.

"Well, we will see what has happened to Counsellor Troi and Commander Riker, who are married with a family now. There is one whole episode dedicated to what has become of them because Picard is in trouble and he has to run somewhere to hide. He goes to them.

"We also have, of course, Brent Spiner as Data. If you've seen the first episode, you'll know that he appears in that."

Who knows, maybe one day we'll get an appearance from Wesley Crusher where he doesn't end up annoying everyone and gets a well-deserved redemption.

Star Trek: Picard has a premiere date of January 23, 2020. It will air on CBS All Access in the US and Amazon Prime internationally, including the UK.
