Star Trek: Picard's Patrick Stewart Invites Whoopi Goldberg to Season 2

While promoting the new CBS All Access series Star Trek: Picard, actor Patrick Stewart had a very special surprise for his former co-star Whoopi Goldberg: an offer to appear on the second season of the series.

While appearing on the daytime talk show The View, which has Goldberg as a co-host, Stewart revealed he had a formal invitation from himself and executive producer Alex Kurtzman. Stewart then surprised the hosts and audience with an offer for Goldberg to appear on the second season, presumably reprising her role as Guinan from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Goldberg accepted the offer as she gave Stewart a hug.

Goldberg debuted as Guinan, the El-Aurian bartender of Enterprise's lounge, in the Season 2 premiere of The Next Generation. With her mysterious origins, Guinan had connections to the Borg and Q Continuum, with Goldberg appearing throughout the series in addition to Star Trek Generations and Star Trek: Nemesis. Goldberg has repeatedly spoken fondly of her time working with the iconic sci-fi franchise and her working relationship with Stewart.

"It was wonderful having you and we cannot wait to have you with us one more time," Stewart declared upon Goldberg's acceptance of his offer.

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. The series is set to premiere on CBS All Access Jan. 23.
