Star Trek: Picard Reunites With William Riker & Deanna Troi In New Photos

After six episodes, Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) will finally reunite with his old friends William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) on Star Trek: Picard. Like Picard, Riker and Troi were main characters on Star Trek: The Next Generation, with Riker filling the role of first officer and Troi as the half-human, half-Betazoid ship counselor. Riker and Troi had a romantic relationship on the show that will continue in their appearance on Picard, which fans have been eagerly awaiting since a teaser confirmed the two would have roles.

Riker and Troi's first appearances on Picard arrive in the series' seventh episode, titled "Nepenthe". Nepenthe is the name of the planet Riker and Troi live on, which is also where Picard was headed at the end of the sixth episode. With him is Soji (Isa Briones), Data's daughter whom Picard has tasked himself with protecting. The rest of Picard's crew remain in space.

The first look images from "Nepenthe" (via ComicBook.com) show Picard's reunion with Riker and Troi, as well as some glimpses of the home Riker and Troi have made with each other. So far, Riker and Troi are only slated to appear in this one episode, but that does not mean they won't appear in Picard's already-ordered second season. You can see the images below:

Riker and Troi are far from the only former Star Trek characters to have cameos on Picard. Data (Brett Spiner) previously appeared in the series' pilot, while Jonathan Del Arco returned as former Borg Hugh. Additionally, Jeri Ryan has returned as Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager. Considering how many characters have been able to appear, it's surprising that Riker almost wasn't included in Picard's first season. Fans were certainly thrilled to hear Picard's second-in-command would be making an appearance on the show.

Riker and Troi haven't appeared in a Star Trek project since 2002's Nemesis, leading fans to wonder what they've been up to since then. Based on the photos, it's clear they've gotten a peaceful, domestic life that will surely please fans who were invested in their relationship. Picard undoubtedly turns to them for help and advice, and it will be exciting for fans to see this trio back together again, even if it's only for a little while. Of course, with Soji present as well, Picard's reunion with his friends won't solely be about remembering the good old days. Fans only have to wait until tomorrow to see it all unfold.

Star Trek: Picard season 1, epsiode 7, "Nepanthe", premieres on CBS All Access on March 5.
