Space Jam 2 Logo & Title Revealed by LeBron James

If Space Jam was a huge part of your childhood, you’re in luck.

The sequel is coming ever closer to completion, to the point that it has its own logo and an official title.

James revealed on his Instagram that the title to the long-awaited sequel is Space Jam: A New Legacy. Additionally, on his hat, the official logo for the film was emblazoned. Check it out below:

LeBron will not only star in the film as a fictionalized version of himself in Space Jam 2 but is also set to produce the flick alongside co-producers Ryan Coogler, Duncan Henderson, and Maverick Carter. Coogler not only produces the film but has written the script alongside Sev Ohanian.

Joining the basketball star in the cast are Don Cheadle, who is reportedly playing the villain. Also joining them is Sonequa-Martin Green (Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery) who plays Savannah James and Ceyair J. Wright playing LeBron ‘Bronny’ James, Jr.

Space Jam 2 follows slowly on the heels of the 1996 original. Extraordinarily, it’s been 24 years since that film came out. It starred Michael Jordan in the lead role and followed Jordan as he miraculously wakes up in the Looney Tunes world where he must go toe-to-toe with alien bad guys in a high-stakes game of basketball alongside the likes of Bugs Bunny, Daffy, and Co.

The film proved to be a large financial success, earning $230.4 million at the Box Office on an $80 million budget. However, movie reviewers were more mixed on the film than audiences. Holding a 43% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the consensus reads, “While it’s no slam dunk, Space Jam‘s silly, Looney Toons-laden slapstick and vivid animation will leave younger viewers satisfied – though accompanying adults may be more annoyed than entertained.”

The film is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021.
