Star Trek: Discovery actor offers update on season 3 in lockdown

As Star Trek: Discoveryseason 3 continues post-production during lockdown, Dr Hugh Culber actor Wilson Cruz has asked fans for "patience".

A first-look trailer for the next batch of episodes was released last October, but a release date is yet to be announced by network CBS.

Over on social media, the anticipation hasn't stopped building, with followers keen to hear any updates on how the new season is coming along.

Replying to a Twitter query earlier this month, Cruz wrote: "Trust me, none will hesitate giving you a release date as soon as they can. Everyone is working hard on post production as we speak. Patience, grasshopper."

Editor Scott Gamzon also weighed in, tweeting back: "Post production, Sound, VFX and Editorial are all hard at work from our homes. It's going to take longer and there have been challenges but the results will be worth the wait!"

Discovery co-creator Alex Kurtzman previously suggested that the upcoming season will "shake up" the Star Trek canon "hugely".

However, he insisted: "We're not erasing anything, so please don't worry about that. It's all still what it was. But we do get to shake it up quite a bit and I think the fun of how we get to a place of preserving that essential optimism is by testing it."

Star Trek: Discovery returns for season 3 later this year. It airs on CBS All Access in the US and Netflix internationally, including the UK, where it also airs on E4.
