Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Preview Reveals New Villains, Major Disasters

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 is off to an explosive start, as Michael Burnham finds herself transported over 900 years into a future without the United Federation or Starfleet.

While the season premiere focused entirely on Burnham and her new companion, the enigmatic scoundrel Cleveland Booker, a preview for the Season 3's second episode confirms the rest of Discovery's crew will follow her into the year 3188. Aptly titled "Far from Home," the trailer has Saru lead the crew to familiar worlds that have become deadly in the centuries since the Discovery was last seen.

Burnham and the Discovery had been transported to the future during the climactic battle against Section 31 at the end of Season 2. With its new time period, the series is now past all established Star Trek canon to forge a bold, new future.

Post-production on Season 3 had been impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, delaying its premiere by several months.

Streaming on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green as Commander Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Commander Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lt. Commander Paul Stamets, Mary Wiseman as Ensign Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber, David Ajala as Cleveland "Book" Booker, Blu del Barrio as Adira, Ian Alexander as Grey, Tig Notaro as Chief Engineer Reno, Ethan Peck as Spock and Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou. New episodes of Season 3 air on Thursdays.
