'Star Trek' sequel to be titled 'Star Trek Into Darkness'?
The title of JJ Abrams's forthcoming Star Trek film has reportedly been revealed.
According to Comingsoon.net, the second instalment in the series will be called Star Trek Into Darkness.
The website claims that the domain names www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie were both registered yesterday (September 7) through Markmonitor, an anonymous registry service that Paramount Pictures has previously used to claim URLs for projects including the official GI Joe: Retaliation site.
Trekmovie.com has also reported that Paramount tested a number of titles for the film over the summer, including at least that did not include the words 'Star Trek'.
Neither domain is currently hosting any content, but visual confirmation of the title in the form of a poster or holding page image is expected soon.
The Star Trek sequel will star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana - who will reprise their roles as Captain James T Kirk, Spock and Nyota Uhura - as well as Simon Pegg and Benedict Cumberbatch as the as-yet unnamed villain.
Pine recently revealed that the nemesis the crew encounters in the film is "much more frightening" than in the previous instalment, but insisted that the franchise will retain its comic elements.
Star Trek 2 is due to be released worldwide on May 17, 2013.
