Michelle Yeoh ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Spinoff In The Works

In a recent report published by Deadline, Star Trek: Discovery actress, Michelle Yeoh, reportedly has her own spinoff show in the works.

Michelle Yeoh’s original character, Captain Philippa Georgiou, was killed relatively early on in the first season of the show during an encounter with the Klingons. The encounter eventually sparked an all out war between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Worlds. She later returned to her role as Emperor Georgiou from a parallel universe. The character was eventually taken to the main universe by Michael Burnham after a coup attempt.

Additional details on this potential spinoff are currently unknown. A CBS spokesperson refused to comment about the reported new Star Trek series. Michelle Yeoh, however,  is currently set to reprise her role in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery. The upcoming season will reportedly focus, in part, on her character as a member of Section 31.

If the report is true, it would be the latest in a series of upcoming shows that will take place in this new Star Trek universe. Executive Producer, Alex Kurtzman had previously expressed a desire to expand the television franchise beyond the initial show. In addition to this new series, the franchise is reportaldy to air a number of shorts focusing on the supporting character of the show. Perhaps the biggest news was the fact that Patrick Stewart would be returning to the franchise as Jean-Luc Picard for his own on going series. And from the look of things, Kirtzman is not going to let the Star Trek well run dry.
