Star Trek: Discovery star says there's a "remarkable reason" for "controversial" change to Spock
Note: Contains Star Trek: Discovery season 2 spoilers
Star Trek: Discovery star Ethan Peck has suggested that those who dislike Spock so far should wait until the end of the season.
The CBS All Access show surprised fans with an unexpected backstory for the iconic character, as Spock (Peck) was revealed to be a murderer.
In episode 3 'Point of Light', his mother Amanda Greyson (Mia Kirshner) said that he killed three doctors in the psychiatric facility before escaping.

Speaking to TVLine, Peck hinted that there is more to the backstory than it appears at first glance, and teased a "really remarkable reason" for the way the "controversial" events have unfolded up to this point.
"People are going to hate on it," he said. "People are going to love on it, hopefully, too. But it's done for a really remarkable reason that will be revealed by the end of the season."
Peck added that playing Spock has been an "incredible" and "terrifying" experience.
"It means a lot to me that this character and world is respected and treated with great care," he said.
Star Trek boss Alex Kurtzman previously explained that "by the end of the season, we will be synced with the canon".
"We know we're 10 years pre-TOS (The Original Series) but there are a lot of big questions," he said. "Like, how come Spock is never mentioned as half-sister of Michael Burnham?
"This season is all about understanding what that relationship is."
Star Trek: Discovery airs on CBS All Access in the US and Netflix internationally, including the UK.
