Patrick Stewart’s Picard Star Trek spin-off name ‘revealed’ and fans are seriously unimpressed
Although Patrick Stewart’s Star Trek spin-off has been in the works for months now, its title has remained one of the biggest mysteries – until now it seems.
Last month, fans got excited when Sonequa Martin-Green appeared to reveal that it has been called Picard, however it now looks as though that has been axed as Production Weekly has listed the Picard series on its schedule.
The leading tracking source notes that production will commence on 14 April under the name Star Trek: Destiny.
Yep, Destiny might actually be the one, folks.
The new name hasn’t won over fans of the series just yet, with one begging it on Twitter: ‘DO NOT CALL IT STAR TREK DESTINY.’
Patrick confirmed that he’d be reprising his role as Picard for a new Star Trek series back in August, with showrunner Alex Kurzman saying: ‘With overwhelming joy, it’s a privilege to welcome Sir Patrick Stewart back to the Star Trek fold.
‘For over 20 years, fans have hoped for the return of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and that day is finally here.
‘We can’t wait to forge new ground, surprise people, and honor generations both new and old.’
Star Trek: Discovery airs Thursdays on CBS All Access in the US, with episodes releasing Friday on Netflix UK.
