Star Trek: Discovery just revealed the Red Angel's identity and none of your fan theories were right

Note: This article contains spoilers for the Star Trek: Discovery episode 'The Red Angel'. Tread carefully, not boldly.

The ever-looming mystery of Discovery's Red Angel has finally been solved in the latest episode, the inventively-named 'The Red Angel'. And guess what? None of our theories were correct.

Despite our careful consideration of the facts, the identity of the Red Angel was revealed not to be Prime Lorca, Number One, Future Spock, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Future Pike, Discovery's AI, an Iconian, or even Future Burnham.

(We were so sure about Future Burnham.)

Instead, Section 31 and Discovery came together to capture the Red Angel, only to discover that she was Michael Burnham's biological mother.

Although Burnham's mum was thought dead after being killed by Klingons, Discovery's latest twist has defied logic – much to Spock's chagrin – and turned everything on its head by bringing her back from the past, or future.

Of course, only time will tell if the Red Angel is who she says she is. Did Michael's mother really lead her daughter to believe she was dead, or is this whole Red Angel thing more of a red herring?

Star Trek: Discovery airs on CBS All Access in the US and Netflix internationally, including the UK.
