Star Trek: Discovery season 2 teases Spock's return to a classic look

Star Trek has teased a rather more Spock-looking Spock for Discovery.

The classic Trek character returned to the franchise in season 2 of the CBS/Netflix series, but has so far been sporting a beard.

However, it looks like he could soon be returning to his iconic shaven look, at least going by a picture from the official Star Trek website.

In the image, Ethan Peck looks more like the familiar half-Vulcan that we all know and love, complete with a Starfleet uniform and the Vulcan salute.

The picture was likely uploaded by mistake (and looks very Photoshopped). It appears to be a promotion for the Star Trek: The Cruise fan event – whether it's for the main show or just Peck's appearance at the convention remains to be seen.

However, we better make the most of classic Spock while it lasts, as according to Peck's co-star Doug Jones, he may be exiting the show.

"Last year, in season 1, [Saru and Michael Burnham] were elbowing each other for the captain's chair – a rivalry sort of thing," he said. "This year we have a love and respect for each other that runs deep."

"As we have to say goodbye to our siblings once we've been through those storylines, now Burnham and Saru are going to have each other... that hopefully will be played out more in season 3."

Meanwhile, Discovery is set to bring a major character from the Short Treks spin-off series into the main show for its next episode.

Star Trek: Discovery is streaming on CBS All Access in the US, and Netflix in the UK.
