Star Trek: Discovery's Pike and Spock are keen to play the characters again

Star Trek: Discovery actors Anson Mount and Ethan Peck are keen to play their characters again.

The pair starred as Captain Pike and Mr Spock on the second season of the CBS show respectively and have both recently given interviews revealing that they'd love to return as the characters, further fuelling talk of a new Star Trek spin-off.

Mount told the Calgary Herald: "It's a character I love, it's a franchise I love, it's an experience that I have already loved.

"Obviously, any opportunity to go back and play with that incredible team, led by (executive producer and co-creator) Alex Kurtzman and all of those incredible artisans from costumes, to make-up, to art, to props.

"Everybody in that crew is operating at the top of their game."

Meanwhile, Peck told TV Guide: "I would like to come back, because being a part of Star Trek is like magic.

"Now I feel like I've done a lot of the groundwork and Spock is very much a part of me. I'm the same but different having finished it. So would I like to continue? Yeah. I think it would be great."

Their comments come after the Star Trek: Discovery season 2 finale saw Spock and Pike command Michael and her team never to speak of them again "under penalty of treason".

This in turn led to Star Trek fans starting a Change.org petition asking CBS to "consider adding another Star Trek series to [its] line-up".

So, could a Star Trek series with Captain Pike be the next spin-off? The evidence is certainly mounting...

Star Trek: Discovery is streaming on CBS All Access in the US, and Netflix in the UK.
