Zachary Quinto has no idea if Star Trek 4 will happen

Zachary Quinto has revealed that he has no idea if Star Trek 4 will ever happen.

To recap: in 2018, Simon Pegg seemed to confirm that a fourth film in the rebooted franchise was afoot. However, in January of this year, there were reports the fourth Star Trek movie had been shelved due to several behind-the-scenes issues.

Now Quinto, who plays Spock in the film series, has weighed in on the whole thing, revealing that he hasn't the foggiest about what's happening with the movie.

"I don't know what's happening with that, and I'm trying to figure out what, if anything, will be the future for it," Zachary told Vulture.

"I feel glad that the franchise is having its own life continuing on [with Star Trek: Discovery] and my hope is that we'll also get to go back and play those roles again.

"But there's no telling right now if it'll happen or not."

JJ Abrams directed 2009's Star Trek reboot and its 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. He also produced the follow-up, last year's Star Trek Beyond.

But while the future of Star Trek 4 hangs precariously in the balance, Quentin Tarantino could be the one to deliver the next dose of USS Enterprise action to our cinema screens, as the director is working on his own Trek film.

Meanwhile, Sulu actor John Cho is also convinced Star Trek 4 will still be made — we may just have to wait longer for it.
