Star Trek: William Shatner Reacts to Quentin Tarantino's R-Rated Film

Known for his iconic role as James T. Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series, William Shatner has reprised his role as the Enterprise's captain on numerous occasions. He's been a fixture of the franchise since the beginning. However, he doesn't understand why people have a problem with the possibility of swearing in Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek movie.

Posting on Twitter, Shatner highlighted the fact that Star Trek: Discovery has used expletives and fans don't seem to take issue with this. The 88-year-old wrote, "Why are people plotzing about this? It’s my understanding that Star Trek Discovery has used expletives in some episodes. Why aren’t people melting down over that?"

CBS' sci-fi series broke new ground when Mary Wiseman's Tilly dropped the F-word. Tarantino previously hyped up the R-rated nature of his Star Trek movie and confirmed audiences would definitely hear the odd F-bomb.

It's currently unclear what's going on with Star Trek. While the small screen world continues to expand with the likes of Picard and a series focused on Michelle Yeoh's Philippa Georgiou, the movie series is in limbo.

Known for his ultra-violent movies like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, Tarantino has carved a name for himself as one of Hollywood's most graphic directors, which would definitely be a vast departure from Gene Roddenberry's original vision. There's no indication at this time when Tarantino's movie might release, though the script is finished.
