According to Alex Kurtzman, Pike and the Enterprise could return

Alex Kurtzman has heard you and he is thinking about possibly bringing back Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn in some capacity.

Raise your hand if you thought one of the best parts of Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 was Anson Mount as Captain Pike?

Yep. That’s what I thought. Pretty much everyone agrees that the addition of Mount to the cast for Season 2 as Captain Christopher Pike was one of the highlights of the season. He made Pike his own and added some much needed depth and humanity to a character that had been pretty much a blank slate for much of Star Trek’s history.

Then when you added Ethan Peck as Mr. Spock, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and a USS Enterprise that has been given a Discovery update and boy, fans went a bit nuts.

So nuts that many went online to ask, beg and plead Emperor of the Trekverse Alex Kurtzman to give Mount and company a show of their own. Almost 30,000 fans even went so far as to sign a Change.org petition to try and make it happen.

And while Kurtzman has said in the past he has heard the fans, he never gave any indication that he was seriously entertaining the idea of bringing the trio back.

Until now.

In his interview with Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, Kurtzman said that while he seriously doubts they would be seen on Discovery again, he and his team and giving the matter some serious consideration.

More from Redshirts Always Die

While that is far from anything you could call definite, the fact Kurtzman is even considering it is a great sign.

We here at Redshirts have been calling for a Captain Pike series since January. There is just so much story left to tell there, so much untapped potential. If Kurtzman doesn’t think a regular series would work than give Mount and Peck a standalone movie at the least.

The fans want to see the return of Captain Pike and Kurtzman sounds like he also wouldn’t mind giving the character another chance to shine. Seems to me this might just be too good of an opportunity to pass up.
