Chris Hemsworth to receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

It has been announced that Star Trek alum and MCU mainstay Chris Hemsworth will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

To the surprise of no one, Chris Hemsworth is getting a well-deserved star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Friday the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Selection Committee live streamed the announcement that Hemsworth, along with Laurence Fishburne, Spike Lee, Julia Roberts, Octavia Spencer, and Batman (yes, Batman) would all be getting stars in 2020.

While most of the world knows Hemsworth for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Trek Nation will always think of him as the tragic hero George Kirk.

Hemsworth’s role in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek was his first role in a big budget Hollywood film. It was thanks in part to being cast in Star Trek that two years later he landed the role of the God of Thunder and the rest, as they say, is history.

Hemsworth has also starred in Cabin in the Woods, Blackhat and Rush as well as playing the role of Kevin the Receptionist in 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot. Many people will tell you that Hemsworth was the best part of that movie, something I’m inclined to agree with.

In a statement on the Walk of Fame website, Selection Committee Chair Vin Di Bona talked about what makes these stars special.

As many know, Hemsworth was going to reprise his role as George Kirk for Star Trek 4, but the actor left the project due to script and salary issues. At the current time, it seems fairly certain a fourth Kelvin Timeline film isn’t going to happen, but never say never.
