Short Treks episode starring Ethan Peck And Rebecca Romijn on the way

Director Mark Pellington revealed via social media that he has completed filming a Short Treks and it apparently stars Ethan Peck And Rebecca Romijn.

We reported yesterday that in addition to the previously announced pair of animated Star Trek: Short Treks episodes, Alex Kurtzman said there were also going to be four new live-action ones. In our report, we mentioned that one featuring Captain Pike, Spock and Number One would not seem to be out of the question given how popular the trio was in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3.

Well, it looks like if you ask for it, you shall receive.

Director Mark Pellington, best known for his work on music videos and the show Blindspot, casually dropped a couple of images on his Instagram that should interest Trek Nation. They indicate not only he just wrapped filming a Star Trek: Short Treks episode, but that it stars none other than Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn.

And if that wasn’t enough, one of the hashtags he used was #chabon, which would strongly imply that Michael Chabon wrote the episode.

As you can see from the second photo, the episode is titled “Chaos Theory” and it was filmed in Toronto, where the bulk of the filming for Discovery takes place.

It should also be noted that Anson Mount, who played Captain Christopher Pike, it nowhere to be seen. Which doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t in the episode. And even if he isn’t, it’s not the end of the world.

One of the great things about Short Treks is the very experimental nature of the format and the fact you can really get into characterization instead of having to concern yourself with the big picture. Spock and Number One are two characters forever linked in the franchise but we have seen very little of their relationship. A Short Treks that takes a closer look at that sounds like a lot of fun.

And of course a Short Treks featuring two prominent members of the Enterprise bridge crew could mean that Kurtzman and CBS are using this as a way to gauge interest in a ongoing Captain Pike series.

Stranger things have happened.

Currently there is no further information about “Chaos Theory” such as when it will air of what exactly the plot is about. As soon as that news becomes available you can read all about it here on Redshirts Always Die.
