Star Trek releases new teaser for spin-off series with Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard

Star Trek has unveiled an intriguing new look at its Next Generation spin-off Picard.

The motion-poster elaborates on the show's recently-released trailer, showing Sir Patrick Stewart's former Starfleet captain and a furry companion overlooking a gorgeous landscape on an unknown planet.

Along with a brand new full-size poster, CBS has teased that this is a glimpse of "the next chapter" of Picard's life after leaving Starfleet. Have a look at the visually-stunning motion poster below:

The previous trailer set up the central mystery of the Picard series by having an unknown speaker questioning him on how he'd 'lost Starfleet'. What could that possibly mean?

There might be some clues from producer Alex Kurtzman, who recently hinted to Deadline's Crew Call podcast that Picard has made some unsettling life choices since viewers last saw him in action.

"A lot has happened to Jean-Luc Picard in the intervening years," he hinted. "There's been a lot going on and he's had to deal with some new things, he's had to deal with some old things, and both of those things kind of come colliding together.

"He's made choices that he's not necessarily feeling great about — and yet I think the audience will understand exactly why he made them."

Kurtzman and Stewart will likely shed more light on Star Trek: Picard during their Comic-Con International panel on July 20, where they'll be joined by fellow cast members Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway as well as members of the production team.

Star Trek: Picard will air onCBS All Access in the US and Amazon Prime Video internationally, including the UK.
