Star Trek: Picard First Trailer Reveals Surprise Returns

During the Star Trek Universe panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, the first full trailer for Star Trek: Picard was revealed.

The trailer for the highly-anticipated CBS All-Access series, and the panel that accompanied it, contained several revelations about the upcoming show, including the return of Star Trek: The Next Generation's Brent Spiner as Data and Star Trek: Voyager's Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine.

Elsewhere during the panel, Jonathan Frakes confirmed that he would return as Commander Riker, alongside Marina Sertis' Counselor Troi and Jonathan Del Arco as the reformed Borg Hugh.

Along with glimpses of iconic scenes from The Next Generation, the trailer also offered brief flashes of the new crew Picard, now a retired admiral, will take with him as he goes on one last mission to the stars. The brief clip also introduces a mysterious young women with sharp fighting abilities who appears to take a keen interest in Picard.

The trailer also shows a disassembled Data, who was destroyed in the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis, which marked Patrick Stewart's most recent turn as the iconic Starfleet captain, before ending with a scene of Picard and Data playing a game of cards.

The trailer also revealed that the show's release date has been pushed back to 2020,

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, and Harry Treadaway. The series is set to premiere in 2020.
