Jeff Russo to score Star Trek: Picard
Jeff Russo, who has scored both Star Trek: Discovery and Short Treks will be adding Star Trek: Picard to his already bust schedule.
Jeff Russo is one busy guy.
Odds are that if you have watched any television over the course of the last year, you have heard Russo’s work. He had provided the score for such shows as Fargo, Legion, The Night Of and The Umbrella Academy among others. And this doesn’t even count the feature film Lucy in the Sky starring Natalie Portman.
And of course if you have been watching Star Trek: Discovery the past two seasons you have also heard Russo’s amazing work. The soundtrack for Season 2 arrived on digital platforms last week with a physical release (fingers crossed for one on vinyl) planned for later this year.
Add in the score for all four Star Trek: Short Treks and as I said, Jeff Russo is one busy guy.
But as it turns out, Russo still had some time to fit in yet another project.
According to Film Music Reporter.com, Russo has officially signed on to provide the score for the upcoming Star Trek: Picard.
The first full trailer for Picard arrived at the just completed San Diego Comic-Con to incredibly positive reviews. It features Sir Patrick Stewart returning to the role of Jean-Luc Picard some 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis.
Russo’s work on Discovery has garnered universal acclaim, with many mentioning his name among such Star Trek musical legends such as Alexander Courage and Jerry Goldsmith. Creating the score for Picard should do nothing but help his legend grow.
And now we all have a Star Trek: Picard soundtrack album to look forward to!
Star Trek: Picard, now with 100 percent more Jeff Russo, arrives on CBS All Access sometime early in 2020.
