Star Trek: Discovery star Jason Isaacs says he would love to see Lorca comeback

Star Trek: Discovery star Jason Isaacs has suggested Lorca could return, revealing that he has had conversations with producers in the past over reprising the role.

Speaking at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention, Isaacs explained that the part of Lorca was meant to be one season.

But he also pointed out that Prime Lorca could still be alive and the universe is vast.

"I knew going in that I was doing just one season," he said (via TrekMovie.com). "It felt like a great thing to do and I felt fine about it, but as I got close to everyone and close to and understood the significance of Star Trek and the brilliant storytelling and what it means in the world, I felt the loss of that.

"Of course I would [return]. I loved it!

"I have talked to [the producers] plenty. Where and when? Nobody ever dies. There is a Prime Lorca. There are three different shows coming out and multiple seasons, and if I can squeeze back into that eight-year-old uniform, I would do. Who wouldn’t want to do it again? They are timeless stories."

Isaacs added that he watched and loved the second season of Discovery, and said that he enjoyed Anson Mount's performances as Captain Pike.

Mount is another star who is keen on returning to the Star Trek universe.

Although his stint on Discovery has ended, Mount would support the idea of a USS Enterprise-themed spin-off series.

Discovery's third season began shooting in Iceland in early July without Mount, although a return date has yet to be confirmed – and may be a while off.

Star Trek: Discovery airs on CBS All Access in the US and Netflix internationally, including the UK.
