Legion's Noah Hawley To Write and Direct Next Star Trek Film

Noah Hawley is in the final stages of negations to write and direct the next Star Trekfilm.

According to DeadlineHawleywill produce alongside former Star Trek director J.J. Abrams. While not officially confirmed, Hawley's film is expected to be the fourth entry in the series that started with Abram's Star Trek.

Abrams rebooted the Star Trek back in 2009. The franchise follows the crew of the USS Enterprise and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban. The original, as well as its two sequels -- Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond -- have been met with critical and financial success throughout the years.

Quentin Tarantino is also in the middle of developing his own Star Trek movie, and has also been working with Abrams. His film would most likely earn an R-rating, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

Hawley is best know for his work on Legion -- which follows a young, schizophrenic mutant and stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) --and Fargo -- a television adaption of the Coen brothers' cult classic. Legion just completed its third and final season, while Fargo is currently filming its fourth.
