Star Trek: Picard Renewed for Season 2 One Month Before Premiere
While Star Trek: Picard is still over a month away from its premiere on CBS All Access, the premium streaming service has already renewed the upcoming series for a second season.
According to Deadline, CBS has ordered a 10-episode second season, with the network receiving $20.4 million in tax incentives from the state of California to help finance the production. While no start date has officially been announced, principal photography may begin as early as this spring.
Season 1 showrunner Michael Chabon is currently focusing on writing and executive producing a television adaptation of his novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay for Showtime. He is expected to remain attached as an executive producer, but a new showrunner will likely succeed him for Season 2.

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. The series is set to premiere on Jan. 23, 2020 on CBS All Access.
