Star Trek: Picard Renewed Ahead Of Its Season 1 Premiere

A lot of times, with some of these big-budget TV series, streamers are going forward with the assumption that they’re going to succeed. We see this was shows like The Witcher, His Dark Materials, and more, and now we’re seeing it with the CBS All Access series Star Trek: Picard, which hits the streaming service on January 23 or next year.

This means that CBS is basically taking a gamble to get all the pre-emptive work on the next season before they even know whether or not it’s a hit — though, given the hunger out there for more from the Next Generation character, it’d be more of a surprise if it didn’t do very well.

The season is set to be 10 episodes in length and the latest in a metric buttload of seasons that we’ll be getting set in the Star Trek universe. And, honestly, for many hardcore fans, this is the one to look out for, especially if you like a more traditional take on the space-faring property.

If nothing else, those involved have a lot of ambition for it. At CCXP over a week back, co-star Michelle Hurd expressed her hopes for the show.

“This is a bigger story than I realized,” she told fans. “It gives up something for us to hold on to. In a time when we are divided, it’s good to have something we can jump on to and tell a story that can touch our hearts and connect us together.”
