Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 casts Fast & Furious star
Director Christopher McQuarrie made the announcement via Twitter on Friday (December 20), sharing an image of the actor.
McQuarrie wrote alongside the image: "You won't see him coming," presumably because he's wearing a massive black coat in the picture.
As well as starring alongside Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious 6, Whigham recently starred in Todd Philips's Joker, playing Detective Burke.
A rather busy guy, some of his other credits include American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, True Detective Broadwalk Empire, Star Trek Beyond, Sicario 2, First Man, Bad Times at the El Royale, Vice and Modern Life.
Whigham joins another recently announced cast member in Hayley Atwell, who he previously worked with on Agent Carter. Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff was also recently cast in both upcoming M:I instalments.
McQuarrie is returning to write and direct the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible movies, which will be shot back-to-back. Hayley Atwell is also on board to star. Plus Tom Cruise, obvs.
M:I 7 will be released on July 23, 2021 and M:I 8 will be released a year later on August 5, 2022.
