Star Trek: The Next Generation cast just reunited in surprising and touching way
The cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation reunited in a unique and lovely way as they celebrated star Marina Sirtis' birthday.
Marina, who played Deanna Troi on the show, turned 65 over the weekend (March 29), though had to mark the occasion from isolation amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
However, her former co-stars decided to video call in to share in the celebrations, Marina posting a snap of their multi-screen interaction.
"I have the best friends in the world," she tweeted. "Considering everything, this was the best birthday present. #TNGRules."
Joining her were Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Worf), Jonathan Frakes (William T Riker), Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher), Brent Spiner (Data), and Gates McFadden (Dr Beverly Crusher).
Sir Patrick is currently reprising his role as Picard on the TV show of the same name, and recently had a reunion with co-star Brent on the series.
Brent recently opened up about it being potentially his last appearance as Data, explaining: "There was just a finite amount of time that I can actually play Data, no matter what anyone says. So many people were like, 'Oh, you can do it. You're not too old', and then I do it and they go, 'You're too old. Why'd you do it?'
"I think we did it in such brief sequences that it was fine to do it, and I felt good about it. But I wouldn't really entertain the idea of doing it again because I just don't think it would be realistic.
"So it seemed right to me to give him this more gentle sendoff, and it seemed right to me in the context of the entire season of Picard and what Picard himself had been experiencing because of the loss of Data.
"I think it allows him to feel okay about it too. So it seemed like the right thing to do."
