Star Trek: Rosario Dawson Fan-Casts Herself as the Franchise's Main Troll

Rosario Dawson has become a popular casting choice in geek culture, notably portraying characters in adaptations of many comic books. She's probably best recognized as Claire Temple, the character based on Marvel's Night Nurse who appeared on the Netflix shows. She also voiced Batgirl in The Lego Batman Movie.

Now it seems she has her sights set on another popular franchise: Star Trek. Following rumors of her being cast as fan-favorite Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, she talked about the possibility of her involvement in the other big "Star" franchise, in an interview with Variety.

“The two universes, ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Star Wars,’" Dawson said. "I get in those two, I’m telling you, man, that’s it. I will just retire.” She went on to say she'd love to get some sort of background role, such as a Romulan or Vulcan, but her father gave her the idea for another role: Q.

Q is an inter-dimensional being with vast power in Trek lore, and has made scattered appearances in the franchise's shows since debuting in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The character's vast power set includes the ability to take on any appearance, which allows them to be played by any actor.

Dawson showed her enthusiasm for the franchise, saying, “I mean it would be great ‘cause then I could jump on ‘Discovery.’ I could be on ‘Picard.’ I just want to be with Jean-Luc Picard."

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. The first season is available on CBS All Access.
