Wonder Woman 1984 star tipped to star in The Saint reboot
The 'property reboot' wheel has been spun around again, and this time it's landed on The Saint, while the 'attached star of reboot' wheel has landed on Wonder Woman 1984star Chris Pine.
Deadlineis reporting that the actor, who plays Steve Trevor in the DC movies, is in negotiations to star in the project.
Paramount Pictures is behind the reboot, with Rocketman and (parts of) Bohemian Rhapsody director Dexter Fletcher behind the camera.
The Saint originated as a series of novels in the 1920s, before becoming a TV show 1960s starring a pre-James Bond Roger Moore. It then became a 1997 movie starring Batman Forever's Val Kilmer, so it'll be interesting to see if and how they modernise it with this new version.
If he does land the role, then it won't be the first time Chris Pine has led a reboot. He previously starred as Captain James T Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond.
It looked like he was done with the role, with reports in 2018 stating that he had walked away from the franchise because of a pay dispute.
But late last year, it was reported that he had changed his mind and signed up for a fourth instalment.
With Wonder Woman 1984, Pine has revealed how Steve will be a very different character in the sequel, but he's remained tight-lipped on how Steve has managed to make it back after his apparent death.
However, we do have a pretty interesting theory...
Wonder Woman 1984 has a release date of August 14, 2020.
