Jonathan Frakes appears in Star Trek: First Contact watch along on Facebook

Star Trek star and director of Star Trek: First Contact Jonathan Frakes participated in a watch-along of his iconic 1996 movie on Facebook.

Ever wonder what Jonathan Frakes thought about his 1996 epic, Star Trek: First Contact? Well now you get to hear it straight from his mouth as the director and co-star of the film participated in a Facebook watch-along of the film. The trend is becoming more and more popular during the Covid-19 pandemic, as everyone from the cast of Chuck, Psych to even the cast of That Thing You Do have gotten together to do some sort of watch party for the fans.

In the case of Chuck, however, it was a group table read which is still a pretty cool thing.

Now, you’ll have to get your own copy of First Contact to enjoy the watch along, but considering the film’s reputation and historical resonance that was left on the fandom the purchase will be well worth it. It’s not often you find a Trek fan who didn’t like First Contact and many often put it on their top three lists of best Trek films ever.

So if any recommendation is needed then this is it; purchase, don’t rent the film. It’s too good to only view once and the performances by Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard and James Cromwell as Zefram Cochrane will surely convince you of that.

The story follows Picard and the crew of the Enterprise engaged in a fight with the Borg that leads them back to a time on Earth after World War 3. There the Borg attempt to assimilate a pre-Starfleet Earth. The movie ventures in two distinct directions from there, with one focusing on Picard and most of the crew fending off the Borg threat on the Enterprise and Will Riker and the rest of the crew trying to make sure that Cochrane has a successful warp flight so the Vulcans land and make first contact.

It’s easily one of the most entertaining films out there in all of the Trek-dom and you’re highly advised to give it a look with or without Frakes commentary.
